Open Position – Maintenance Staff * Full Time * Non-exempt Status *Wage:  $13.00/hr.

 

Summary:  The selected candidate is responsible for maintenance and repairs physical structures of buildings and maintains ground by performing all of the following duties.  The highest duty of this position is timely and effective service to Tribal members and employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training in general maintenance preferred
  • Basic computer skills with aptitude to learn new software
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when under pressure
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Must have favorable verifiable employment references
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and a high level background check

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:      

  • Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from Director.

 

  • Completes all assigned tasks in a timely manner and interacts courteously with Tribal members, co-workers, staff, customers, and the public in general.

 

  • Cuts, loads and delivers firewood to tribal citizens

 

  • Cuts grass and trims weeds, assists with snow removal as directed on ESTO property

 

  • Paints interior/exterior walls/trim, assists with remodeling needs

 

  • Operates machinery and uses tools in a safe manner to maintain all ESTOO property.

 

  • Repairs parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.

 

  • Maintains and repairs buildings’ plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses.

 

  • Repairs or replaces building brick, stone, and concrete and maintains/repairs wood parts of buildings.

 

  • Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as truck, street sweeper, and riding mower.

 

  • Assists other departments with maintenance/repair needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with appropriate equipment.

Work Environment:   The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
