General Definition:

The Assistant Teacher directs the daily activities of the children as assigned by the Teacher and the ultimate supervision of the Master Teacher to provide an environment and activities contributing to the cognitive, social-emotional, physical, language, and communication development of each child.

 

Supervision Received:    Teacher and Master Teacher 

 

Supervision Exercised:     None

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Directs the daily activities of children as assigned by the Teacher, master Teacher and/or Learning Center Director/Assistant Director.
  • Direct children in educational activities; supervise children during lunch, nap time, free time, field trips, and transition between activities and playground periods.
  • Prepare materials for planned activities under the direction of the Teacher, Master Teacher and/or Learning Center Director/Assistant Director.
  • Assists with clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assists with housekeeping and cleaning duties as needed and directed.
  • Other activities and duties as assigned.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School diploma or GED preferred.

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Able to handle sensitive information in such a way as to ensure confidentiality.  If confidential information is shared, it is grounds for termination.

·         Willing to assist in organizing and participating in ESTO activities, be accepting of/and willing to learn Native American culture and traditions.

·         Excellent communication, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills.

·         Excellent software skills including Word, Excel, Microix, and Outlook with a high aptitude to learn additional software.

·         Strong organization and prioritization skills.

·         Demonstrated work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct.

·         Able to contribute to a team environment.

·         Able to work in a hectic, fast-paced environment, and handle deadlines and frequent interruptions.

      

Licenses/Certifications/Other:

  • Current valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a background check as a condition of employment.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug test with a negative result as a condition of employment.
