Tar Creek Climate Change Survey

The Ottawa Tribe received a climate change grant for developing a Climate Action Plan for Tribal Lands in Northeast Oklahoma and is working with the Cherokee, Peoria, Miami, Seneca-Cayuga, Wyandotte, and Eastern Shawnee.  So the survey was developed to do a community knowledge and vulnerability assessment on climate change.  We will be having some community workshops to develop a plan, so this survey is one of the initial steps to seek input to develop a climate adaptation plan for the area. Our goal is to have as many surveys completed as possible by October 1, 2023. We will have hard copies of this survey available during the ESTO Pow Wow if you are not comfortable completing one online. ESTOO Transportation Safety Plan Meeting Sept. 12th at 10…

We need your input!! Next Tuesday, September 12th, at 10AM there will be a Transportation Safety Plan meeting. This is a brief description of what will be in the Transportation Safety plan:
“The development of the Transportation Safety Plan is encouraged as a means to address transportation safety needs in tribal communities. The previous transportation safety plan included a collision analysis overview of the ESTOO jurisdictional boundary, tribal lands, and the surrounding area within Ottawa County. Special attention was given to State Highway (SH) 10, SH 10C, and other dangerous collision intersections and stretches of roadway. The focus then narrows to key safety issues (emphasis areas) as identified by the transportation department personnel and the outcome of the safety planning meeting.”
Here is a link to a safety survey and we need to have as many responses to this survey to give us an idea of the safety concerns in our jurisdiction as well as the surrounding area within Ottawa County. You do NOT need to be a tribal member to participate in the survey. Thank you in advance for your input and time!
